(ABC 6 NEWS) – Congressman Tim Walz was in Rochester today pushing for a new transportation bill he says is needed to create jobs and ensure public safety.
Speaking in front of builders and local leaders, Walz says they're pushing for a new surface transportation bill that's set to expire soon.
He says the reauthorization of the bill will allow southeast Minnesota to complete a list of projects including expanding Highway 14 to make it safer.
"I found that most people find that if their tax dollars are going to projects that they can see and understand the benefit locally and on the state level they're much better to handle that I think," said Walz.
Walz says the bill is roughly around $400-billion. Although it's a hefty price, he says it's smart spending.
