Betsy Singer joins the ABC 6 News Team

ABC 6 News is pleased to announce Betsy Singer as the latest addition to its award winning news staff. Betsy joins ABC 6 News after a two-year hiatus from local news where she concentrated on family and independent projects.

ABC 6 News General Manager David Harbert, "Our viewers will connect with Betsy, my guess is from the moment the camera starts rolling.  We all know her.  She is a proven journalist and a very gracious Minnesotan committed to our community.  Now, Betsy joins a great ABC 6 News team as 5PM anchor. Our viewers are invited to share this new appointment with a familiar friend, and stick around for Charlie Gibson, Ericka and Brandon."

Betsy has worked as a reporter and anchor at newsrooms in Mississippi, Wisconsin, Florida, Tennessee, and Minnesota.  She has been one of the area's most popular anchors for the past decade, winning many awards and recognitions for her journalistic work.  She is active in various community and charitable causes, including PossAbilities, which advocates for the developmentally disabled.  She most recently worked as an educator at Faith Christian School in Rochester, training students in various aspects of communications and reporting stories of faith.

ABC 6 News Director Mike Schram says, "We are proud to have Betsy Singer as part of the ABC 6 News team.  In addition to being a great journalist, she is also a wonderful woman.  That's something that viewers of this area have known for a long time. We are excited that she has decided to join our team and continue the excellence in local reporting that has become the standard for ABC 6 News."

Singer will join ABC 6 News as the 5:00 p.m. anchor, Monday through Friday and plans to start by Monday, July 13th. ABC 6 News anchors Ericka Miller and Brandon McElwain will continue delivering the 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. news.

Betsy says she is enthusiastic about the new venture, "I'm very excited for this opportunity to work alongside a great team of professionals at ABC 6 News, especially Ericka and Brandon."

When she isn't working, Betsy enjoys spending time with her husband, Ken and two children, Connor and Caden.
