NOAA weather radios send an alert for severe weather. Now the city of Britt, Iowa has a plan to put one in every house. The city plans to pay for the weather by fundraising and possible grants, but if enough money is raised, it will be taken from the local option sales tax. But not everyone is on board. Many say it shouldn't be taken from public money, others like the idea. City officials say this is the feedback they want. The city says there are approximately 900 households that would like the radios in. They also say using tax money to pay for the radios would be an absolute last-case scenario. |
