Police Chase Ends in Crash in WBL

Troopers took one man into custody after he led police on a 15-mile chase.

The state patrol says it tried to make a traffic stop at 35E in Little Canada Saturday night, but the driver of a red pick-up truck kept going.  He led police right through downtown White Bear Lake.

Eventually, troopers say White Bear Lake police were able to throw down stop sticks, which stopped the driver.  Authorities then surrounded the pick-up and arrested the man.  It all happened right in the middle of a neighborhood.

“When I heard the sirens get louder, I walked out our back door, and that’s when I saw the truck come squealing up this street,” said nearby resident Michael Fiorito.  “The state troopers came this way, and then as soon as they surrounded him, I went back in the house and made sure my wife and kids and dog were in the same spot.”

Troopers arrested Shawn Brewer, 36, for DWI and driving with a revoked license and fleeing police. Fortunately, no one was injured.
