Posted at: 09/21/2009 10:48 AM ABC 6 Sports Honored By MN HS LeagueABC 6 Sports Director, Ezra Broder, and the entire ABC 6 Sports team, have been honored with the Minnesota State High School League Region One AA News Media Award. The award is given to local media outlets that have provided excellence in high school athletic coverage. The region covers schools from Winona to Owatonna, as well as Austin, Albert Lea, and Rochester. In its announcement, the Minnesota State High School League said this "nomination and selection to this distinguished group of past award recipients speaks well of your accomplishments and contribution to Region One AA. Region One AA wishes to show our expression of appreciation to you for your years of service to local school district sports programs, community sports programs, and especially to the Region One AA Athletic and Fine Arts programs." ABC 6 Sports Anchor Ezra Broder accepted the honor of behalf of the entire Sports Department at a luncheon ceremony Wednesday, September 16, at the Hubbell House in Mantorville. Every year, ABC 6 Sports covers more than 50 schools in ten athletic conferences over two states in more than 18 different sports over three seasons. ABC 6 Sports is the only local media outlet that recognizes both male and female athletes for their contributions to success on and off the playing field through the ABC 6 Prep Athlete of the Week Award. This MN High School League award is an acknowledgement of the hard work Ezra Broder, Caleb Ostrander and TJ Werre along with a talented team of photographers who strive to cover the players, coaches, and schools in this viewing area on a daily basis. The recognition is deeply appreciated by ABC 6 and reinforces staff commitment to live up to the TV station philosophy that "it's not about us, it's about you." |
