(ABC 6 NEWS) -- The Lourdes Eagles are in an unusual position.  The football team received the fifth seed in next week's Section 1AAA playoffs, and this is a team that's used to grabbing one of the top spots.

It'll be somewhat of an uphill climb for the Eagles this postseason, but thanks to the experience of one senior q-b, don't count them out.  Here's our Male Prep Athlete of the Week.

It's one thing to start on a championship-caliber team as an underclassman.  It's another thing entirely if you've been doing it since eighth grade and at the most important position on the field.  So excuse Tyler Greguson if he gets lost in the moment, thinking about this year's playoffs, because this is it for the senior QB.

"You think about it a little bit ... being your last shot, or kinda the last run you're gonna be able to make," Greguson said.

Greguson's left an enduring mark on the Eagles program.  He'll play his 54th straight game when Lourdes travels to Byron in the opening round of the playoffs next week, and for that just call him the high school Brett Favre.  And just like when Favre left the Packers, it's not gonna be the same when someone else lines up under center for the Eagles next year.

"Yeah, it will be a little bit different.  He'll be missed, especially his on-field presence.  Picking his brain during the games.  What's there, what's not, so that'll probably be the biggest thing we'll miss," Lourdes Head Coach Mike Kesler said.

Last week, in what may have been his final home game, Greguson torched Stewartville for a total of five touchdowns: two on the ground and three through the air.  If that was his last game at home, it wasn't a bad way to go out.

"There have been a lot of great memories over the years, and it's been great to make a lot of new ones this year and make our senior years as special as we can," Greguson said.
