Iowa Teen Sentenced to Life in Prison for Killing

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) -- A Mason City teenager convicted of killing a man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Eighteen-year-old Damion Seats was sentenced on Monday for killing Isidora Erreguin, who was shot to death in his Mason City home in August 2008.

A jury in August convicted Seats of first-degree murder and first-degree burglary. His trial was moved to Hardin County because of pretrial publicity.

Two other teens are charged in the case.

Andre Wells Jr. is to stand trial on Dec. 1 in Cerro Gordo County.

Jamie McFarland agreed to plea guilty to first-degree burglary in a plea deal with the state. In exchange for his testimony against the other teens, the murder charge will be dropped.
