Giving Made Easier

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Donating to your favorite charity is now just a click away.

With the stroke of a mouse, and the click of a button, Dave Beal was able to make a contribution to his favorite organization.

By using the brand new website---"GIVEMN.ORG".

"It's going to provide people just another channel or opportunity to support these organizations," says Beal.

He’s also Vice President of Communications for the United Way of Olmsted County and says there are more than 36,000 charities you can donate to online.

You can drop a little cash to help homeless pets at the Mower County Humane Society, or help feed the hungry at the Channel One Food Bank.

"100% of what they donate comes directly to the non-profit, there are no fees that we have to pay," says Cynthia Shaffer, Executive Director of Channel One Food Bank.

She also says the website couldn't have launched at a better time.

"Most non-profits start their big giving campaign right about now, with the holidays coming and this is just the perfect time," she said.

In a economic climate where people in need, will need it the most.

"Even if you're not being directly affected by what's going on in the economy you may have that anxiety, " says Beal.

Non-profits are encouraging everyone to check out the website and look for ways you can give.

The website also tracks your tax-deductible contributions.
