Hudson Woman Dies from H1N1

4 More Flu Deaths in Minn., 3 Confirmed H1N1

A Hudson woman remembered as a good friend and great mom, who was otherwise healthy according to those who knew her, died from H1N1 complications just days after the onset of flu-like symptoms.

Debbie Lindstrom, 48, died Tuesday at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

Her friends say she started feeling flu-like symptoms at the end of last week.

She was taken to the hospital because the virus caused fluid to build up around her heart.

Lindstrom was born and raised in Hudson. She was a single mother raising three teenagers, two sons and a daughter. She was a basketball star at Hudson High School in the late 1970s and it was at the same school where she watched her daughter play the sport.

Lindstrom's friend Nancy Sarno said, "You couldn't find better. She was a great person to be around, always positive, always happy, always upbeat. And, she loved her kids and she loved her family and she loved her friends."

Friends say Lindstrom did not have an underlying medical condition.

News of her death came as the state health department reported four other flu deaths. Three of the cases were confirmed as H1N1. The fourth case wasn't confirmed as H1N1 but involved flu-like symptoms.

A funeral service for Lindstrom will be held at 11:00 a.m. Nov. 7 at Bethel Lutheran Highlands Church in Hudson.

Visitation will be Nov. 6 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home also in Hudson.
