Tonight, the channel one student food drive is wrapping up, and we'll finally know just how much food our local students have collected. There was some singing. There was some dancing. There was even, one principal who was displaced by food. As twenty local school districts participated in the channel one student food drive. It started on September 28th, with a talent competition. From there, schools got to work trying to raise as much food as they could, in a race against hunger. The goal was to raise 40-thousand pounds of food, and it was a challenge these kids took seriously. "A lot of people don't know that people in our area are suffering from starvation,” says one student. In Austin, they packed the principals office with food in the "Force Him Out Drive". Down in Chatfield students sang at the local grocery store, songs they'd written especially for donations. It was a lot of fun, all for a good cause. |
