Students Help Feed People Through Food Drive

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Around twenty schools in our area have participated in the community food drive and today after thirty-seven weeks of collecting, the food at Austin High School was sent to be weighed.

The goal in Austin was to collect so much food in the principal’s office to drive him out, which they accomplished.

Their goal was to raise one thousand pounds of food.

But organizers believe they may have loaded 12-thousand pounds into the trucks today.

"This is about helping their peers because were feeding families and I am very proud of them, I am proud of the work that we've collectively done here, it's great, there's a spirit around here," says Kirsteen Lindbloom, a coordinator.

This is just one of the creative ways students have collected food for Channel One.

In all 20 schools, including Austin, Rochester, even Chatfield and Spring Grove are participating and tonight we find out how all of their hard work has paid off.
