Boat Capsizes in Albert Lea
(ABC 6 NEWS) - Three young men are safe tonight after being rescued when their boat capsized in Pickerel Lake in Albert Lea.
A little bit before eleven this morning a good samaritan called in to report that a boat with three men onboard had sunk in the middle of Pickeral Lake.
Freeborn County deputies and the Albert Lea Fire Department responded, and by time they got on scene, another citizen, Jeremy Hendrickson of Albert Lea had launched his own rescue mission using a row boat.
The men had been returning to shore after duck hunting.
Their boat was overloaded and officials believe that's why it capsized.
Deputies say the three were not wearing life jackets and it is unknown how long they were in the water.
Hendrickson and Albert Lea water rescue teams rescued the men.
All three men were treated for cold related injuries at Albert Lea Medical Center.
