Fugitive Wanted for Mpls. Murder Arrested

A fugitive on Hennepin County's most wanted list is in custody.

The FBI said William Leon Lane, 23, of Plymouth, was arrested in Minneapolis Tuesday morning.

A complaint filed in September charged Lane with murder in the second degree.

According to the complaint, Lane shot and killed an individual in an alley off 11th Avenue South on or around Aug. 31. The FBI said Lane had been on the run since the shooting.

Investigators believe Lane fled to Chicago for a while but then returned to Minneapolis.

On Tuesday, around 7 a.m., agents and officers from the Minnesota Fugitive Task Force, along with K-9 deputies from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office arrested Lane at an apartment on the 1600 block of Taylor Street NE, where he had been staying.
