'Raise Your Voice' Gathering Friday in Montevideo

MONTEVIDEO, Minn. (AP) - College students from the Twin Cities get a chance to interact with community members from the Upper Minnesota River Watershed this week in Montevideo.

The second annual Raise Your Voice literary event is set for Friday from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Java River Coffeehouse in downtown Montevideo.

The event is free and open to the public.

Raise Your Voice is co-sponsored by the Higher Education Consortium on Urban Affairs and Clean Up the River Environment, or CURE.

Twenty-two students and several faculty members are scheduled to go to Montevideo on Friday morning to see CURE's work in the region.

CURE was founded in 1992 with the goal of celebrating and protecting the Upper Minnesota River Watershed.
