The Wednesday morning quiet was shattered in a small Mower County community "A search warrant was executed very early this morning at a residence in Brownsdale," says Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi. Investigators went to the house just before sunrise as part of what they called an on-going drug investigation. They found what they were looking for. "I do believe at this time eleven people were taken into custody, and those were for charges ranging from active warrants for their arrest, probation violation as well as possession of narcotics," says Sheriff Amazi. The narcotics included a quantity of meth. Sheriff Amazi says, "It doesn't appear to be a manufacturing operation. Probably distribution for certain."' "Drugs are a problem in communities of all sizes," says Acting Brownsdale Mayor Dave Pike. Paul Severtson of Brownsdale says, "It happens in small communities, but you just don't think it's going to happen this close to home. It is a good place to raise a family." "It's definitely a family community here in Brownsdale, and we like to keep things as safe as possible," says Pike. And the community is now a little safer. Sheriff Amazi says, "Some of that problem has been taken off the street, and some of those drugs are now in evidence and not out on the street." "I'm just glad to see that law enforcement is vigilant about being pro-active in finding the root of these problems," says Pike. "I still think Brownsdale is a safe community," says Severtson. Investigators say there could be more arrests. More details will be available Thursday. |
