Independence Party Welcomes Steven Wilson

(ABC 6 NEWS) – The Independence Party kicked off its caucus by welcoming a new candidate. Rochester's Steven Wilson announced his run for Minnesota's First Congressional District seat.

The Congressional hopeful says he has a passion for solving the rising national debt.

"In my hand I have President Obama's budget for the Fiscal Year 2011, and it doesn't look too good. I spent twenty years putting long term budgets together for folks and businesses in southern Minnesota. This doesn't work," says Wilson.

The First Congressional District seat is currently filled by Tim Walz.

The Independence Party held a caucus both at the Heintz Center and online February 2nd.
