MnDOT Warns Drivers About Deer in Flood Zones

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation is warning drivers on roads near rivers to watch out for deer.

MnDOT Highway Maintenance Supervisor Woody Woodruff tells The Free Press of Mankato that there were six deer-vehicle collisions on Thursday alone between Mankato and St. Peter.

He says the spring snow melt that's raising rivers throughout the state is pushing the animals to higher ground - "and the higher ground is our roads."
