Independence Party Endorses Steven Wilson

(ABC 6 NEWS) – It's official: the Independence Party of Minnesota is endorsing Rochester native Steven Wilson.

He's now up against democratic congressman Tim Walz, and the battle is on.

But for Wilson, he's not focusing on his competitor.

"We've got to stop the negativity, if we don't get ahold of the national debt soon and get that limit set, it'll start to increase interest rates. And when you start to increase interest rates, southern Minnesota is gonna see that, they're gonna feel that," says Wilson.

The endorsement came during the party's annual first district convention.

Wilson announced his candidacy back in February.
