Mpls. couple: Insurance won't pay for grandchild's surgery
 Baby's family awaits heart transplant

While he still has a long road to recovery, doctors say four-month-old Laith Dougherty has a bright future.

The infant is adjusting well to his new heart, officials said last week.

Dougherty was born with an enlarged heart, but insurance wouldn't cover the cost of a transplant. His parents say they couldn't afford the $1.5 million surgery.

Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, Penn. agreed to perform the surgery and Dougherty was given a new heart.

His mother calls the operation 'one of the happiest moments ever.'
