(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Several people are safe this morning after a fire forced them from their apartment.
Officials say the fire started around 2:30 Monday afternoon in a dumpster at the Prairie-Sky apartment complex in the northwest part of Austin.
The Austin Fire Department quickly put out that fire. The fire chief says the apartment had a sprinkler system which ultimately saved the building.
He also says this is should be a lesson to all property owners.
"Put your fire protection into the building, and your building will remain," said Austin Fire Chief Dan Wilson.
The building has around 25 apartments. There's some water damage, but no injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
