(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Every month ABC 6 NEWS recognizes a local teacher who makes a difference in the lives of students.
This month, we introduce you to someone who brings an added touch of fun to the classroom and uses her sense of humor to make tough subjects a little easier to swallow.
Annie Christopherson, our May Excellent Educator, is notorious for her sense of humor.
She lives by the rule, don't take yourself too seriously.
"If you can learn to laugh at yourself, life is going to be a lot more enjoyable,” says Annie Christopherson.
Though, she teaches some tough subjects.
"Physics, chemistry, physical science, biology, anatomy,” says Christopherson.
But, she adds a fun twist.
"Dropping eggs off the roof, making roller coasters out of construction paper, learning about momentum, and all of that jazz,” says one student.
"She's super duper with hands on and I love to see her in action. She can really pull even the shy kids out., she's good with all types,” says Kathryn Burke.
Annie isn't one to just hang in the classroom...
"Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's she opens the weight room for us and we can even get help while lifting weights if we want,” says Kelsey Williams.
Then she helps them achieve their dreams.
"Every kid is different, and every kid has a different goal they want to reach and part of my job is to figure out where they want to go and help them get to that point,” says Christopherson.
That’s why Pacelli High School teacher, Annie Christopherson, is this month’s Excellent Educator.
