Lanesboro is located in the southeastern tip of Minnesota near the Wisconsin and Iowa borders in the heart of scenic bluff country. We are just a 2-hour drive from the Twin Cities and only 45 minutes from Rochester and the Mayo Clinic. Our town is open to visitors year round for summer and winter recreation. Sports Afield magazine calls Lanesboro “One of the 50 Best Outdoor Sports Towns” in the nation. Lanesboro was also honored with the 1998 Great American Main Street Award by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Not only is there a lot to do in Lanesboro, but we also offer fine dining and a variety of lodging establishments including Inns, cabins, and historic Bed and Breakfasts. We have a beautiful park right in Lanesboro with a campground, playground, gazebo and tennis and basketball courts. There are other great campgrounds just a few miles outside of town.
In Lanesboro you could: take an Amish tour, canoe or fish the Root River, ride more than 50 miles on the bike trail, snow-mobile or cross country ski, see a concert or a play, browse the art galleries and shops, hike the trails, bird watch, or just plain relax in a porch swing! Lanesboro is a terrific getaway for ages 2-92! Come and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of Minnesota’s bluff country. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget!
