T.J. Werre
T.J. graduated magna cum laude from The University of Memphis in May 2008. He was a sports reporter for the school paper, The Daily Helmsman, a job that gave him the opportunity to cover his beloved Memphis Tigers basketball team in San Antonio, TX for the NCAA National Championship Game. Unfortunately, Memphis lost, and instead of writing a 'Tigers win' story, he wrote a 'Tigers lose' story. He still hangs that story proudly on his wall in his apartment. Also during his time at Memphis, he was the sports director for Insight, the weekly campus TV news show. He did play-by-play for the Internet Game of the Week on wmctv.com for the local NBC affiliate, WMC, covering high school football, basketball, baseball and softball. He was awarded the 'Broadcast News Student of the Year' award at Memphis his senior year. When he isn't at work, T.J. enjoys keeping up with his very random selection of favorite sports teams, which stem s from moving all over the country as a Navy brat. He follows the San Francisco Giants, the Memphis Grizzlies or any Memphis team in general, and the team he was born and bred to be a fan of, the Green Bay Packers. You can also find him at the YMCA playing basketball and working out, or, when it's not snowing, working on his golf game. He also spends time visiting his grandparents in Wisconsin and Winona as well as flying home to visit his family and friends in Memphis. Send T.J. an e-mail if you have a great sports story ideas. |
