Cerro Gordo County Public Health announces new Director

(ABC 6 News) – Cerro Gordo County Public Health announced a new Public Health Director Tuesday.

Kara Vogelson has been serving as the interim director since January and will officially take over the role.

Though we received an impressive pool of candidates, Kara brings extensive experience working within the department, and a clear vision for the future,” states board of health chairperson, Jodi Draper.

“We are confident we made the right decision appointing her as director of public health.”

Vogelson previously served in many roles at CG Public Health including spending the last three as the Deputy Director of Administration. With a master’s degree in health care administration and a certification in public health, Kara has championed public health initiatives within the communities of Cerro Gordo County for more than 20 years. It has been her passion to ensure that every aspect of the work performed at CG Public Health reflects the vision, mission, and values of the department and meets the needs of those served.
