(ABC 6 News) — Last season the Century Panthers dug themselves a huge hole.
They began the season 1-10 and had to claw themselves out. They won 7 out of 8 games in May, but the early season slump affected their season and they were dispatched in the second round of the section tournament.
They finished the season with a 10-13 record and the Panthers are looking to build on the positives.
"We’ve gotta keep the positivity," utility player Joshua Fletcher said. "We lost a couple of games in a row and it started a downfall but we started getting the jump back and we just gotta keep that momentum going."
Pitcher Peyton Milene gave insight on what to expect from the team this season.
"I’d say we’re a defensive team like we’re going to put runs together," Milene said. "We’re not going to hit 3 bombs in a row, it’s going to be single, maybe a double here and there but we’re going to have to scrap to get runs together."
Century opens it season on the road against Mankato West on April 5.
