Thornton man facing arson charge following a fire in Cerro Gordo Co.

(ABC 6 NEWS) – A Thornton man is facing first-degree arson and domestic assault with injury charges after a fire took place in Cerro Gordo County.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s office says 58-year-old Robert Parker was arrested after authorities responded to a report of a dispute at 300 Larch Street in Thornton.
When they arrived, they found the house was filled with smoke and a fire was started in the basement.
This is an ongoing investigation.
Thornton Fire Department and Iowa State Patrol assisted in the investigation.
