Suspicious circumstances in two Mason City business fires, police say

(ABC6 News) – The Mason City Police and Fire Departments suspect criminal activity in the cases of two recent fires.

The first fire occurred at LD’s Filling Station on 12th St. NE, at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17.

The second took place at the Coin Laundry Center on 12th St. NE, at 12:27 p.m. Sunday, March 20.

The circumstances surrounding each fire is suspicious, Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley said.

"We are asking anyone who may have been in these areas at the time fires occurred to call and report anything that appeared to be unusual," he said.

Coin Laundry Center owner Sheryn Drewelow confirmed that there had been a fire at the business Sunday.

She said the laundry center would be closed until further notice.
