Hy-Vee dietitians to provide free A1C screenings in November
(ABC 6 News) – November is National Diabetes Month and Hy-Vee announced their team of dietitians will hosts events throughout the month focused on helping individuals manage their blood sugar levels.
Events will included FREE A1C screenings, virtual cooking classes, and store tours.
Hy-Vee dietitians will offer 1,500 free A1C screenings at more than 60 store locations – available while supplies last. Results will be provided during the appointment. To register for a screening, CLICK HERE.
Hemoglobin A1C is a blood test that individuals living with diabetes use to manage their blood glucose levels and provides information about that individuals average levels of blood glucose over a 2-3 month period.
A four-week menu program will also be offered for individuals seeking a meal plan to support a balanced lifestyle. The plan includes simple dietitian-inspired recipes, balanced meals and snacks, and weekly one-on-one visits with a Hy-Vee dietitian to track progress.
Hy-Vee dietitians will also offer free virtual wellness classes each Wednesday in November from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Topics will include, gluten-free holiday baking, holiday travel treats, cereal bars, carb conscious holidays and more. Registration is required. Learn more HERE.
Finally, two kinds of freezer meal workshops will be offered virtually. They are designed to help families save time and money by preparing meals ahead of time, and participants can register to receive a step-by-step guide, recipes and more. The two workshops are Gluten Free and Dairy Free, and Traditional. The cost is $10.
