(ABC 6 News) -The Austin Packers boys made their state tournament run against the 2-seed Princeton Tigers in the Class AAA quarterfinal Tuesday.
Packers were led in scoring by Ater Manyuon with 17 points, Cham Okey had 4 and Victor Idris added 11 points. Austin kept pace at times with the Tigers in the first half, but as the game progressed, Austin fell into trouble.
Despite forcing 23 turnovers on Princeton, the Packers only made three shots from beyond the arc out of 26 attempts. Scoring proved to be difficult at times, Austin going 29 for 71 in field goals.
Ultimately, the Packers lost to the Tigers, 73-63. The loss comes as head coach Kris Fadness will retire from his position with the Packers after 25 years.
But that final game was not Tuesday night, as Austin will play St. Cloud Tech in the consolation bracket Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Concordia University-Gangelhoff Center.
