Local Alumni play in NCAA Women’s Tournament

(ABC 6 News) — Three former high school standouts in southeast Minnesota stepped onto the national spotlight as part of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship.
On Friday, Mayo grad and current South Dakota senior Liv Korngable took the court with her #10 Coyotes against #7 Ole Miss. Korngable contributed 10 points as South Dakota landed a 75-61 upset win against the Rebels in Waco, Texas.
On Saturday in Raleigh, North Carolina, Byron alumna Ayoka Lee dropped her 49th career double-double in a 50-40 win for #9 Kansas State over #8 Washington State. Lee scored 20 points with 15 rebounds for the Wildcats.
The same day, Lourdes grad Alyssa Ustby pitched in 13 points for #5 North Carolina in a contentious battle against #12 Stephen F. Austin. The Tar Heels eventually prevailed over the Ladyjacks, 79-66 in Tucson, Arizona.

#10 South Dakota Vs. #2 Baylor – Sunday, March 20th
#9 Kansas State Vs. #1 North Carolina State – Monday, March 21st
#5 UNC Vs. #4 Arizona – Monday, March 21st
