Hayfield and Lourdes claim section girls’ hoops championships

(ABC 6 News) — Two stellar title games went down at the mayo civic center on Thursday night.
Third-seed Grand Meadow played number one undefeated Hayfield for the section 1a championship. It took the efforts of Natalie Beaver, Lexy Foster and Kristen Watson to help the Hayfield Vikings stay perfect. At one point, Hayfield was down 41-39 when hayfield went on a mega-run, closing the game 24-2 to win 65-41. The Hayfield Vikings will now head into State a perfect 31-0.
As for the Section 1AA title game, number five Lake City and second-seeded Lourdes put on a show. Lourdes’ CJ Adamson attacked the rim with a veteran presence while Lake City’s Mya Shones and Natalie Bremer delivered from three-point range. Bremer in particular had 15 of the Tigers’ 30 points by halftime. Ultimately, Adamson, along with Ella Hopkins helped the Lourdes Eagles fend off Lake City, 62-57. The Eagles are now State-bound as well, taking their close Section 1AA championship victory with them.
