Agweek Farm Show celebrates 40th Anniversary

(ABC 6 News) – Daylight savings is on the horizon, and spring is nearly here, which means farmers and ag producers are gearing up for another planting season. It’s the perfect time for everything and anything ag related to come together.

"Agriculture is a driver for this local economy, so it’s important to just get back in person. We have farmers here that want to meet with these businesses that have booths," said Katie Pinke with Agweek.

The annual Agweek Farm Show is back at Graham Arena at the Olmsted County Fairgrounds, after going virtual last year due to the pandemic. This year, will feature more than 50 local, regional and national vendors on just about everything, from farming and cleaning equipment, to law firms talking about land protection, and renewable energy options.

"I really appreciate some of the vendors that have renewables. We’re looking at that for our property. We want to incorporate a little bit of that to diversify our electricity and lower our costs overall," said Peg Furshong with Hawk Creek Prairie Farm in Renville County.

There are also panel discussions taking place at the show on ag in a carbon neutral world, cyber security in agriculture, animal ag policies, and urban agriculture.

Event goers and vendors alike say it’s really helpful to have these types of gathering for the ag community to come together and share information to help one another out.

The 40th annual show will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 8 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9. You can also catch the Agweek show every Sunday on ABC 6 News from 9-10 a.m.
