Downtown Rochester is getting ready for Social Lights

(ABC 6 NEWS) – A popular Rochester event is kicking off Thursday, Social Lights! But, it may be different than you remember.

"The ice bars that you’re familiar with are actually going to be light bars that are going to be made out of LED Panels with themed videos playing," Holly Masek, executive director for the Rochester Downtown Alliance said.

Preparation is underway for this staple Rochester event, and organizers are excited about it!

"It always felt great to gather people and feel that energy of bringing a crowd together, but because we haven’t felt the energy of the crowd for so long, it makes it that much more special," Masek said.

There will be plenty of fun for everyone, from the themed drinks to the music.

Five restaurants will have a different theme.

Chesters Kitchen & Bar has a tribute to first responders and Victoria’s restaurant is themed after the popular Netflix show "Squid Game."

Before the light life begins, there’s also an event called Social Lights Fam Jam for the whole family, filled with different activities and photo opportunities.
