(ABC 6 News) — Football? In the spring? It’s more likely than you think.

The SPFL 2022 season is still in its infancy, as the Med City Freeze took the field for the first time all year. Their opponent was their neighbors to the southwest, the Albert Lea Grizzlies.

It was tough sledding out at Frank Hall Park, but Grizzly running back Colton Opsahl did his best on a handoff, taking a defender with him to the ground upon contact.

The Freeze gave out some pressure of their own as Grizzlies quarterback Elijah Anderson found himself sacked in a hurry.

However, the Freeze couldn’t keep up offensively, losing their season opener, 14-6. The Grizzlies are now 1-1 after beginning their season a week ago with a loss at the Midwest Rampage.
