ALERT DAY Tuesday: Light snow and slick roads

(ABC 6 News) – Light snow is once again expected across the region on Tuesday which will lead to slippery stretches and slick spots on area roads.

ABC 6 News Weather First Meteorologist Jim Peterson says Tuesday will be day 2 of 3 in a row of snow, therefore it is prompting another ALERT DAY status for the area.

A new 1-2″ of snow is expected through the day/evening, with a high-end total of 3″ possible, once again closer to the I-35 corridor. Wind won’t be a big factor, but like Monday’s snow, visibility will be lowered at times, with slick roads expected as well. Wednesday will be day 3 of 3 for snow, with a new dusting expected.

Aside from a few flurries possible with cloudy skies both Thursday & Friday, the end of the week is shaping up to be pretty uneventful, however it will be cold, as highs drop to the teens & lows in the single digits by Friday.

The State Patrol reported hundreds of vehicle crashes throughout Monday: 322 crashes from 6-11 a.m. Monday and 244 crashes from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, making a statewide total 566 crashes during typical travel times.
