Zumbrota-Mazeppa boys basketball HC Fred Liffrig retires after 10 seasons

(ABC 6 News) — It will be a new era going forward for Zumbrota-Mazeppa boys hoops.

After ten seasons at the helm, Cougars boys basketball head coach Fred Liffrig has retired. In his stead, Logan Jensen, Zumbrota-Mazeppa’s junior varsity head coach, has been promoted to Liffrig’s position.

Liffrig spent the better part of more than three decades with the cougars community; he was a long-time assistant before taking the head coaching job in 2012. Liffrig won five overall HVL conference titles as both an assistant and head coach.
