UPDATE: Waltham man killed, another injured in head-on crash on Hwy 56

(ABC 6 News) – A Waltham man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 56 near Waltham Thursday afternoon.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the 61-year-old Ramon Crews of Waltham was heading north, while 68-year-old David Prouty, of Mantorville, was heading south. The two vehicles collided just south of the intersection of Highway 56 and 320th Street.

Crews died at the scene. Prouty was taken to St. Marys hospital with what is considered non-life-threatening injuries. The head-on crash happened just after 2 p.m. on Hwy 56 and 320th St. in Waltham.

Hayfield Fire and Ambulance, Mower County Sheriff’s office, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation all assisted on the scene.

Highway 56 just south of the Mower- Dodge county line was closed for several hours but has since been re-opened.
