(ABC 6 NEWS) – Thanksgiving is almost here, but in a matter of time, it will be Christmas.
One Rochester organization continues to do something special to spread Christmas cheer.
The time has come. Just like Santa’s Elves, The Rochester Host Lions Club and numerous volunteers are working hard to make sure a family’s Christmas is special.
“We look forward to our customers coming out here,” Steve Simonson, member of the Rochester Host Lions Club said.
All the Christmas Trees have a purpose, each one is going to call to a person.
When you take one home, it makes a difference.
“All of our proceeds goes to a list of charities,” Simonson said.
Those charities include Channel One Regional Food Bank, The Ronald McDonald House, and so much more.
In years past, The Rochester Host Lions Club has raised $25,000 to $30,000.
This year they hope to take it up a notch by raising $40,000.
“What’s the most rewarding part out of all of this?”
“Well to me it’s about seeing how much we raised. We’ve seen our customers children come, now they’ve grown up, and they’re coming here to buy a Christmas tree too. I look forward to coming here every year,” John Davis, member of the Rochester Host Lions Club said.
But as the weather gets colder, community means everything.
“It’s inevitable, we’re all getting older, and we’re looking for more younger people top join our club so people can join,” Davis said.
If you’d like to go pick out a tree, the location for this is in the Rochester North Parking Lot.
There are over 1,000 trees to choose from and the site is open for a month.
