82-year-old in critical condition after being hit by vehicle Saturday night, no charges filed

(ABC 6 News) – The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said an 82-year-old Rochester man is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle Saturday night.

The sheriff’s office said a 25-year-old woman was driving home after work on College View Road East around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Officials said the woman was approaching Sekapp Orchard when a man went into the road in front of her and she hit him.

Deputies on scene spoke with the driver and the victim’s wife. They learned the couple was walking back to their vehicle which was parked on College View Road. They were about to cross the road and the woman tried to stop the man from crossing but said he is hard of hearing and likely did not hear her. The sheriff’s office said there were several vehicles parked on either side of College View Road East. Parking is not permitted in that area.

The man, later identified as Kevin Shreurs, was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

No charges have been filed against the driver based on statements made and evidence at the scene.
