Rochester Art Center hosts Ukraine event

(ABC 6 NEWS) – The Rochester Art Center is showing its support for Ukraine. Sunday afternoon they hosted an event called "The Spirit of Ukraine."

The event taught people about Ukrainian culture, from art to music and traditional cuisine. Performers read poetry and played the Bandura, a Ukrainian string instrument.

"I’m absolutely heartbroken at what I see on the news and what’s happening. So whatever little thing I can do here helps me feel a little better," Stephanie Podulke, an event-goer said.

People at the event could also enter a silent auction for Ukrainian artwork or flower wreaths.

All proceeds went to the Ukrainian American Community Center of Minneapolis and the nonprofit Razom for Ukraine.
