(ABC 6 News) — One local Rochester basketball team is gearing up for a new season this weekend.

Rochester United, a second-year team competing in the Official Basketball Association (OBA), will begin its new campaign at John Marshall high school this Saturday. Their opening opponent will be the CEO Kings, a squad from Minneapolis.

"We have a lot of returning guys from last year, we ended the year really well, last year," Garrett Benson, an RU guard and Mayo High School grad said.

"Got a good mix of new guys coming in. So, just kind of getting that chemistry between everybody will help. And then that first game’s kind of like our — we haven’t played a whole together, just some practices here and there. But, it’ll be a good test for us to start the season."

"We lost to them twice last year so — and he is right, they are a good team," Mark Manyuon, fellow guard and Austin High alum concurred.

"They have a couple of overseas guys that play in their downtime. So, I think it’s going to be a good challenge for us… Just to gauge where we’ve come from last year, you know? We had a good battle with them so, I’m looking forward to it you know."

Rochester United’s game with the CEO Kings will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday. All regular home games going forward will be played at RCTC.
