UPDATE: Name released of man dead after crash into power line

(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester man died shortly after hitting a power line and home in SE Rochester at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday

David Sherwin, 57, was taken to St. Marys and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

According to witness statements taken by Rochester police, Sherwin’s 2013 Chevy Avalenche crossed into northbound traffic in the 1000 block of 3rd Avenue SE, hit a power pole, then struck the corner of 1034 3rd Ave. SE.

Capt. Casey Moilanen with the Rochester Police Department said Sherwin may have experienced a medical emergency that caused the crash, though that is not certain.

Emergency personnel shut down a portion of 3rd Avenue SE in Rochester, from about 9th Street to 11th Street, Tuesday morning.
