Senator Senjem announces run for Olmsted County Board seat

(ABC 6 News) – State Senator David Senjem announced he will be running for the District 2 Commissioners seat on the Olmsted County Board

In April, Senjem announced that he would not be seeking re-election in 2022 for State Senate.

Senator Senjem released the following statement:

“It has been my honor and privilege to represent the people of Dodge and Olmsted County as a State Senator in St. Paul. Since I announced I would not be seeking re-election to the Senate I have received an overwhelming amount of support and encouragement to seek a position on the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners. I am driven by a deep sense of service, giving back, and making our community a better place. It is in that spirit; I look forward to the opportunity to serve the people of Olmsted County as a county commissioner.

"If elected, I pledge to do my best to meet the needs of the people of our community while remaining steadfast to improving the everyday life of our citizens. I have a proven ability to work with people and find solutions. I am excited to keep moving the Olmsted County Board forward as an effective governing body and being a leader in all phases of government services.”

Senator Senjem has served as Senate Minority Leader and Senate Majority Leader. He has held positions as Minority Lead or Chairman of the Senate Capital Investment Committee for most of his years in the Senate. In recent years he has chaired the Senate Energy and Telecommunications Committee where he has led in moving Minnesota into a clean energy future. He has also led to the development of mental health crisis centers across Minnesota.
