(ABC 6 News) – Students at Mayo High school got a visit from Pasquale’s Neighborhood Pizza Monday, to learn how to make pizza, and also learn about careers in the hospitality industry.
Students in their culinary arts class watched Pasquale Presa make his famous dough while he talked about starting his own business.
Foundations of Culinary Arts were created six years ago to introduce students to hospitality as a career choice.
The class Foundations of Hospitality was created six years ago in response to the Rochester Hospitality Community voicing a desire to introduce and encourage students into that specific pathway. The pathway into hospitality is in serious need of workers.
“I thought the presentation was really interesting and I thought he did a really good job telling us where he’s from and how he got here. It made me more interested in how people become successful,” said Mayo High school student Clara Dahl.
Rochester Public schools notes the hospitality industry was greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and introducing students early could help ease the strain.
