Rochester teen receives 5 years’ probation after apartment dryer fires
(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester teen was sentenced to five years of supervised probation after being found guilty of lighting flammable materials and putting them in dryers at a Rochester apartment complex.
Lawrence Daveontae Johnson, 19, was convicted of felony 3rd-degree arson after a series of dryer fires in May 2021.

Johnson faced previous charges of felony 2nd-degree burglary from Feb. 2021, felony 3rd-degree burglary from July 2021, and felony theft of a motor vehicle from Aug. 2021.
He originally pleaded not guilty to all charges, but amended his pleas in November of 2021.
Lawrence was found guilty of all above charges and sentenced on Thursday, May 12.
A charge of 5th degree drug sale or possession was dismissed.
If Johnson completes his probation without incident, his convictions will be changed to misdemeanors.
He must also work 100 hours of community service.
