(ABC 6 NEWS) – Pastor Andre Crockett is on a mission to transform the Gage East Gym into a Multicultural Recreation Center.
But he still needs your help to make it happen.
Pastor Crockett said he wants to make this gym the best it can be for kids.
The walls are freshly painted, the bathrooms are updated.
All that needs to be done is adding the hardwood floors and finish building out the classrooms and lounge space for students.
Pastor Crockett had a goal of opening the space by the end of the month, but fundraising became a challenge.
With the help of the community, the plan is to open the space by the end of January or early February.
“This will be a place where kids call home. That they love this place so much that they don’t want to go home, I have to put them out! So I did my job very well if the kid just wants to be here,” Andre Crockett, founder of Sports Mentorship Academy said.
$100,000 is the goal of this project.
Pastor Crockett says they have reached 75% of that goal.
