(ABC 6 News) – Thursday, was the grand opening of Maker Space Collaborative, a new boutique that specializes in locally sourced products.

All the products are handmade by small businesses near Albert Lea.

The owners say they chose businesses within a 30-mile radius of the city because they wanted to showcase the local talent in Albert Lea.

"It feels as if you’re not on social media you kind of don’t get the representation that you need when your a home-based business so that was kind of our goal was just to give them kind a little more representation," said Co-owner Maker Space Collaborative Megan Yerhot said.

"I know I’m for one that would rather look at something tangible and hold it touch it and feel it and smell candles and things like that rather than just buy it online get and maybe it’s not what you were expecting," said Co-owner Nina Cardel.

They plan on hosting "Maker Night classes" where people can learn how to make some of the products in the store.
