2nd murder trial for Muhidin Abukar scheduled for May 16
(ABC 6 News) – A new trial date has been scheduled for a Rochester man charged in connection with the 2019 murder of a 28-year-old man.
A mistrial was declared in December 2021 in the trial of Muhidin Abukar, after a week-long trial and just 18 hours of jury deliberations.
Abukar is charged with second-degree murder with intent, aiding and abetting, in the March 5, 2019, murder of 28-year-old Garad Hassan Roble.
A motorist discovered Garad Roble’s body on March 5, 2019, on the 2300 block of 4th St. SE in Rochester. He was shot eleven times.
Ayub Iman, 25, of Rochester, was convicted in April of second-degree murder, aiding and abetting for his role in the murder. Sentencing for Iman is scheduled for June 2.
Jury selection for Abukar’s re-trial is scheduled for May 16.
