Arctic Outbreak expected late next week
It’s way out to next week but we’re already carrying Alert Days for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week for potential dangerous cold taking shape. An arctic airmass will be settling into the Midwest. The pattern to bring it to us looks likely. Exactly how frigid it will be is still a bit up in the air. But based on the probabilities, temperatures reaching the teens below zero are within reach. With a strong wind expected following a storm system moving through early in the week, wind chills will most definitely be a factor. The probabilities of reaching -40° are elevated. I think the range of -25 to -45° are possible in this three day stretch.
Right now we’re looking at these three days with an elevated chance of spending the entire time below zero.
Stay tuned for updates and more specific details as we get closer to this period. It will be a dangerous setup if proper precautions against the cold aren’t taken. Respect that cold. If you take away modern conveniences, it is only a matter of minutes before it becomes a life threatening situation if you aren’t prepared.
