Health concerns when removing snow

(ABC 6 News) – Heavy wet snow that’s not just dangerous for drivers, but for your health as well.
“If we go out there thinking it’s going to be easy to push and it ends up being a lot more work than we think it’s going to be. And so the more work and excursion we have to do the more stress it can be on the heart,” said Dr. Stephen Dunlop who is an ER doctor at Hennepin County Medical Center.
Doctors call this heart attack snow. The American heart association shared that a recent study found only two minutes of snow shoveling led to a participant’s heart rate exceeding 85 percent of their maximal heart rate.
“Go ahead and shovel slowly by slowly. If you’re starting the feel tired, then rest take a minute and keep your body in check,” said Dr. Dunlop.
